A celebration hosted every May to raise funds for our programs and enjoy all things community, composting and regeneration.

ICAW Poster Contest 2021

The International Compost Awareness Week Committee invites anyone age 14 and up interested in participating in their 19th annual poster contest.  The winning poster will be used to promote International Compost Awareness Week May 2-8, 2021!

Poster Theme: Grow, Eat…COMPOST…Repeat

ICAW Video Contest

This international contest is for anyone in grades 4 – 8.

Starts September 1, 2020, to November 2, 2020:

Submit a short video: no more than 30 seconds

All video entries will be shown on the ICAW YouTube channel.

 

The winning video will have their video highlighted on the ICAW website pages and the winner will receive a Fire HD 10 Tablet (or comparable tablet).

Sharing something about:

Using compost

Sending food waste to your compost bin or your town’s Food waste collection

Planting a garden using compost

Whatever creative way you would like to share something about ICAW and the theme, Grow, Eat…COMPOST…Repeat.

International Compost Awareness Week

Sunshine Community Compost's regional contribution in 2018 and 2019 to this international event

Compost-A-Thon is Manasota's largest, one-week, food-scrap-to-soil effort in honor of community building, soil creating, and fundraising to support the education and action initiatives of Sunshine Community Compost.

2019 Outcomes

1 Week: May 5-11, 2019

2,000 pounds of food scraps diverted from landfills

140+ households participating

15 distribution sites

2018 Outcomes

1 Week: May 6-12, 2018 

1,300 pounds of food scraps diverted

from landfills

nearly 100 households participating
